On My Bookshelf

My latest book, Lost in Labeling: Ignorance Fueled Hatred As Political Ideology in America, is written for readers who care about the state of public discourse and want to dig deeper into how political labels divide us. It is not about choosing a political side, nor is it written to defend one and condemn the other.  Instead, it exposes a modern problem that has quietly reshaped American life: a new ideology built on political hatred, manufactured through labels, emotional manipulation, and high-tech systems designed to profit from our division. Today, many of us find that conversations about ideas have become almost impossible – not because our values have changed, but because we are now encouraged to identify with a “side” so completely, that any challenge feels personal, threatening, or disloyal. This book is meant to help undo that reflex, to reclaim the ability to alk about different ideas or difficult things without being consumed by hostility and to be able to listen respectfully to the many contributing factors that influence our individual thoughts. For those who wish to explore the ideas in this book more deeply—individually or with others—, please click Learn More About How Lost in Labeling is Changing Lives… which includes a more detailed overview of the topics in my book and printable discussion guides prepared for families, educators and bookclubs to begin important conversations.
